Nurse Anesthetists • Integrity, Professionalism, Advocacy & Quality

The South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists is a full-service professional organization committed to the advancement of educational standards, practices, and public awareness of the art and science of nurse anesthesia. Founded in 1951, our membership has worked diligently to promote the provision of accessible, affordable, high-quality care for the citizens of South Carolina through continuing education for CRNAs throughout our state. If you're interested in working to improve care and safety conditions for patients requiring anesthesia, our group can help.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are licensed professional Registered Nurses (RNs) who have completed a post-graduate course in anesthesia and have successfully completed a national certifying examination. CRNAs enjoy a full scope of anesthesia practice opportunities, including preoperative assessment, intra-operative selection, anesthetic management, and postoperative patient care. This challenging and rewarding career enables the nurse anesthetist to select and provide general, regional (including spinal and epidural), and local anesthetics as dictated by the procedure, the patient's health status, and the patient's preference (when possible).
